Intel and McAfee Security Goes Deep

E-mail Print PDF

Intel and McAfee reveal DeepSAFE at the Intel Developers Forum 2011-- technology allowing the development of security products taking advantage of a "deeper" security footprint.

McafeeSitting below the OS, DeepSAFE provides what McAfee calls a "vantage point" in the detection and prevention of stealthy advanced persistent threats (APTs) and malware (unlike current security techniques running within the OS).

The technology will not be embedded into Intel processors, but is instead "hardware assisted", taking advantage of Intel Core processor hardware features.

DeepSAFE currently runs with Windows 7, but should also run on Windows 8 and potentially Android-- following Intel's newly announced alliance with Google.
