IO Turbine announces Accelio, its first sofware solving I/O bottleneck problems in VMware environments by making use of servers' SSD/flash memory.
The software identifies the highest priority data and offloads IOPS from primary storage to flash-- allowing for the deployment of more applications within a virtual machine while avoiding I/O performance limitations.
Accelio sits above the hypervisor, and is thus hypervisor agnostic-- as well as SSD/flash and storage system agnostic.
The company says its solution is the only one to automate hot data to SSD/flash caching while dyanmically reallocating SSD/flash capacity across all virtual machines. It also provides granular performance acceleration at the file, volume and disk level.
Accelio also supports non-virtualised environments, providing similar benefits on non-hypervised servers with SSD/flash storage.
IO Turbine is currently putting a channel program together, with distribution also likely at some point.
