Scale Computing Integrates Acronis Backup

E-mail Print PDF

The Scale Computing HC3 hyperconverged computing platform gets archiving, enhanced data protection, disaster recovery and threat mitigation through the integration of Acronis Backup.

Scale Computing Acronis

The HC3 platform already offers the Scale Computing Data Protection Suite, but many users deploy additional backup and recovery solutions to use other types of storage, extending existing storage investments in NAS or SAN, or use advanced data protection features not available on HC3. Enter Acronis Backup, a solution Scale Computing deemed best suited to meet archiving and advanced disaster recovery needs.

According to the two companies, Acronis Backup on HC3 meets the toughest backup objectives for mission-critical systems, saving up to 10x the storage space and reducing the backup workload with automated administration. It saves backups on inexpensive storage for long-term retention to meet regulatory compliance, and promises faster recoveries with the ability to restore a backup image to a machine without a preinstalled OS through full bare-metal system recovery.

Acronis Active Protection provides an integrated anti-ransom defense powered by machine learning models able to detect and stop ransomware attacks and automatically recover affected files, including those on network shares and removable devices. Meanwhile Acronis Universal Restore simplifies the recovery of an entire system to the same or dissimilar hardware, or virtual machine, by automatically detecting boot recovery. Granular recovery allows users to search and restore specific files or folders without recovering full databases or systems.

Acronis Backup on HC3 protects nearly all supported VM operating systems on the Scale Computing HC3 platform, and can granularly backup and restore individual VMs up to and including the entire system. Acronis Backup stores backup data on a wide range of storage locations, including HC3 virtual disks, existing NAS/SAN and public clouds.
