Citrix announces the availability of a cloud-based desktop-as-a-service (DaaS) solution promising to be the fastest and easiest way to deliver Windows apps and desktops via Azure to "any device."
First presented at Citrix Synergy back in May 2019, Citrix Managed Desktops enable customers and partners to deliver virtual apps and desktops from Azure while simplifying daily administration tasks. Based on Windows Virtual Desktop, it features Windows Server as operating system and includes Office 365 optimisations in anticipation of the new multi-session Windows 10 experience.
The company adds HDX technology provides a "pristine desktop image" at every login, as well as a "good or better" experience compared to a traditional laptop or desktop. The system can offer non-domain joined and domain joined desktops from anywhere globally on any device at any time, and customers can easily connect corporate resources such as Active Directory, file services and more through VNET peering into an Azure subscription.
An upcoming SD-WAN for Citrix Managed Desktops service integrates with SD-WAN to further simplify and optimise virtual app and desktop delivery, providing the best possible end-user experience for all Windows, SaaS and cloud applications, while extending the network into Azure.
