NEC Takes on Hyperconverged Infrastructure

E-mail Print PDF

The NEC Corporation of America and NEC Enterprise Solutions EMEA announce NEC HCI-- a hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) solution powered by the HC3 software from Scale Computing.

NEC HCIAccording to the companies involved, the platform provides a "complete virtualised solution in a single appliance, designed for rapid deployment, ease-of-use, seamless scaling, high performance and cost effectiveness." It is aimed at SMBs and remote or branch offices supporting mission critical applications, and consists of a NEC D120h high density server able to host four individual server nodes. The result is a smaller datacentre footprint, bringing greater efficiency.

Customers can add more appliances to a running cluster seamlessly and "within minutes," and different models and capacities can be used together in different combinations. Appliances are pre-configured, and NEC offers three levels of configuration to meet specific workloads. Customers can also customise appliance in case the pre-packaged models don't need requirements.

The NEC HCI solution should ship on Q2 2019.
