Juniper Networks announces an expansion of the 18-year partnership with Ericsson-- one leading to the delivery of a comprehensive end-to-end 5G solution leveraging the portfolios of both companies.
5G is expected to bring the next generation of business and consumer services, but the increase in connectivity, network traffic and customer expectations bring challenges in the management of a mobile transport network in a cost-effective way. Evolving 5G use cases, such as connected cars, AR/VR and 8K video streaming, place additional demands across the network, demanding tighter integration between 5G radio, core and transport layers of an end-to-end mobile network.
To allay such challenges, the Juniper-Ericsson brings a complete 5G transport network solution with single pane of glass visibility to manage the requirements of next-generation mobile service delivery. The solution combines Juniper next generation WAN service and IP transport routing with the Ericsson Router 6000 and MINI-LINK microwave portfolio for distributed, centralised and virtualised radio access.
In addition, the solution takes advantage of the Juniper Unified Cybersecurity platform to secure the entire 5G infrastructure against threats, creating a solution with seamless connectivity from radio cell site to mobile core, all unified under the Ericsson management and orchestration solution, including full FCAPS support.
