Dell EMC announces an addtion to the Open Networking portfolio-- the Z9264F-ON, a dense switch offering 64 100GbE ports in a compact 2U form form factor designed to replace legacy chassis switching systems.

Dell EMC Switch"Our enterprise and service provider customers have been unequivocal in their desire for innovative and Open Networking solutions for their datacentre infrastructure," the company says. "The new Z9264F-ON delivers on that desire, providing our customers with the most capable 100GbE switching platform in the industry and granting our customers maximum control over their network spend and their infrastructure."

Powering the Z9264F-ON is StrataXGS Tomahawk II, the Broadcom 6.2 terabit/second ethernet switching silicon. It is purpose-built for high-performance datacentre spine or fabric applications, and provides ultra-fast connectivity between racks. Underlying the switch is Open Network, the Dell EMC concept aimed at providing customers more choices in building more software-defined environments.

Customers can combine the Z9264F-ON with either Dell EMC or partner software, including open source options, for a flexible and capable physical network infrastructure. Suggested software choices include VMware's Virtual Cloud Network, the Open Compute Project's OpenSwitch and SONiC, or Dell EMC's own OS10 Open Edition package.

The Z9264F-ON ships globally from end August 2018.
