Dell EMC aims the DP4400 integrated data protection appliance at the mid-range market-- an enterprise-class means for backup, replication and recovery providing 24-96TB of in-place memory and up to 192TB in the cloud.
The DP4400 is a 2U platform powered by by PowerEdge 14th generation servers optimised for VMware environments. It allows admins to perform backup and recovery tasks directly from the native vSphere UI, and is integrated with VMware native tools, SQL Server Management Studio and Oracle RMAN.
The appliance also supports many physical and virtual applications, including MySQL and MongoDB, as well as multiple hypervisors such as VMware, vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V. Other features include an HTML5 UI, built-in networking and an average deduplication rate of 55:1. In total it can protect 5PB of usable data capacity.
Cloud Disaster Recovery to AWS is available with end-to-end orchestration-- failover in 3 clicks, failback in 2 clicks-- without need for additional hardware. The DP4400 ships with 5TB licneses each for Cloud Disaster Recovery and Cloud Tier, together with a Dell EMC RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines starter pack (provides 5 VMs and a 1-year subscription).
