The HPE Discover event has the company reveal GreenLake Hybrid Cloud-- a consumption-based service for optimising both public and private clouds using automation and remote services.
As the latest addition to the GreeLake suite, GreenLake Hybrid Cloud manages cloud resources in different environments, including AWS, Microsoft Azure and Azure Stack. Being a turnkey service it establishes cost, security and compliance controls while automating cloud operations to eliminate the need for skilled staff able to manage the hybrid environment on a day-to-day basis.
HPE says the service is based on a couple of recent acquisitions, namely cloud consultancy RedPixie and AWS migration specialist Cloud Technology Partners (CTP). It promises to accelerate time to value through a cloud-native operating model, and the pay-per-use consumption model and continuous cost control helps reduce total cost of ownership. In addition, expert HPE Pointnext service cut the "heavy lifting" in the datacentre.
Since it is built on the OneSphere toolset, GreenLake Hybrid Cloud initially supports AWS and Microsoft Azure. However HPE hopes the service will become fully platform-agnostic in the future, especially if customers demand support for other clouds.
HPE still has to announce when the service will be available.
