Hitachi subsidiary Hitachi Vantara adds NVMe SSD caching and GPU-based server options to the Unified Compute Platform (UCP) Line of converged, hyperconverged and rack-scale systems.
The company also has certified application ecosystem solutions optimised for mission-critical environments, including SAP HANA, Oracle databases, VMware and big data analytics frameworks. UCP system are based on pre-tested modular blocks of infrastructure validated to meet specific needs, allowing customers to start small and grow systems with increments of compute, network and storage components.
Additions to the UCP Converged Infrastructure (CI) range include support for the recently launched all-flash and hybrid Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) systems, together with the addition of Hitachi Advanced Server DS220 and DS240 servers for both scale-up and scale-out options. Meanwhile the hyperconverged line includes the Advanced Server DS225 (features Nvidia Tesla GPUs for workloads such as virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), CAD/CAE and collaborative workspaces), and the addition of Intel Optane NVME SSD caching to the DS120 server.
The UCP Rack Scale (RS) offering gets servered powered by Intel Skylake Xeon Scalable processors, together with all-flash memory and support for VMware vSAN. According to Hitachi Vantara this lowers the cost for smaller deployments, bringing a simple and secure cloud infrastructure to a new class of customers.
The expanded Hitachi solution for the SAP HANA platform includes scalability up to 64 nodes per frame, up to 8 CPUs and 12TB, VSP flash storage systems and custom datacentre integration and appliance certifications. The Hitachi Solution for Databases optimised for Oracle Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) offloads warm and cold data to a data lake, including a certified MongoDB cluster running on an own UCP RS system.

All above mentioned Hitachi UCP and applications ecosystem solutions are available either now or by August 2018.
