AMD launches the Pro version of the Ryzen APUs aimed at enterprise customers-- Ryzen Pro, with high-performance x86-based Zen cores and Radeon Vega graphics, with processors aimed at both notebook and desktop use.
The models are technically identical to the consumer-grade varieties, with the same core counts, frequencies and memory support, but include updated support and a promise of superior silicon. AMD offers three APUs for mobile applications and four for desktops, all promising to "address the demands of today’s compute-intensive enterprise-focused workloads."
Being aimed at enterprise workloads, the APUs feature a security boost through transparent secure memory encryption (SME), secure boot (hardware-based), application whitelist, fTPM and TPM 2.0 support, and KVM through the DASH CPU agnostic management platform. The Ryzen Pro for Mobile APUs have a 15W nominal TDP customers can adjust from 12W to 25W (depending on chassis and performance required), while the Desktop APUs have a TDP of either 35 or 65W. All components use the same AM4 sockets.
AMD names a trio of big names as Ryzen Pro partners-- HP, Lenovo and Dell. The Ryzen Pro for Mobile finds use in the HP ProBook 645 G4, HP Elitebook 7x5 line, Lenovo Thinkpad Ax85, and Dell Latitude 5495. The Ryzen Pro for Desktop processors are in the HP EliteDesk G4 mini-towers, the Lenovo ThinkCentre M7x5 family, Dell Optiplex 5055, and HP 285 desktops.
