Software developer Accelerite looks to take on cloud heavyweights VMware and Nutanix with Rovius Cloud-- a hybrid cloud platform based on CloudPlatform, which was acquired from Citrix back in March 2016.
Rovius Cloud runs on commodity hardware, hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) or blade servers, and is server, storage and hypervisor agnostic. It supports both software-defined storage and legacy SAN and NAS appliances, as well as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XensServer and any others.
The platform also allows organisations to provision workloads from on-premises datacentres to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) public cloud, with similar functionality to follow for Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure.
An "Ops Manager" available as both on-premises or cloud-based software deployment provides resource discovery, infrastructure monitoring, log analytics, performance monitoring and capacity planning. In turn all such features are integrated in the Accelerite filing system.
Rovius Cloud is available now as a software appliance. Accelerite also has plans to offer the platform as an integrated hardware solution by end 2017.
