DJI, 3DR Join Forces in Enterprise Drones

E-mail Print PDF

DJI DroneChinese drone maker DJI joins forces with former competitor 3DR in the development of an enterprise drone platform-- one integrating the 3DR enterprise drone platform with DJI drones.

The collaboration allows customers to use DJI drones with the 3DR Site Scan platform. It promises seamless connection of DJI drones with Site Scans, with a full feature set including automatic flight mode, multi-engine cloud processing and tools designed for the construction industry. These include topographic surveys, calculating cut and fill volumes, stockpile measurement and exporting native Autoddesk file format.

In addition, 3DR launchest the 3DS Enterprise Atlas platform-- a set of enterprise drone tools, such as as unlimited cloud-based storage for flight and mapping data and role-based access to different types of stored data.

3DR used to be a drone maker, but stopped selling Solo drone in 2015 due to a combination of surplus drone inventory and revenue shortage. This brought about a shift from recreational drones to an enterprise software platform for construction, mapping and engineering.
