Intel Compute Card Gets Launch

E-mail Print PDF

Intel launches the Compute Card at its Computex keynote-- the modular, credit card-sized computing platform first revealed at CES 2017, now with partners (Dell, LG, Lenovo) and a shipping date.

Intel Compute CardThe Compute Card concept remains unchanged from that seen back in January 2017. A compact package fits an Intel system-on-chip, memory, storage and wifi/Bluetooth connectivity. One can slot the Compute Card in a variety of products, with examples seen at the show including a desktop PC replacement docks, laptops, smart TVs, VR headsets and even refrigerators.

This makes upgrades simple, since the card can be swapped out for a better model. To help partners integrate Compute Card support in products Intel offers a Docking System packing USB 3.0, ethernet, HDMI and/or DisplayPort functionality able to act as a standalone dock solution.

Computex has Intel show 4 initial Compute Card SKU, featuring processors ranging from 7th generation Intel Core i5vPro (i5-7Y57) to Celeron N3450. All carry 4GB DDR3 RAM, 128/64GB flash storage, wifi and Bluetooth 4.2.

The Compute Card should be available exclusively to hardware partners from August 2017.
