The Tech Companies of the FT 1000

E-mail Print PDF

The FT 1000 lists the 1000 companies in Europe with the highest percentage growth in revenues between 2012 and 2015.

78 companies on the list are in London, making the British capital a hub for innovation and commerce in the EU even as the UK prepares to leave the bloc.

FT 1000 Let's call it "Techxit..."

Paris is second with 45 companies, followed by Milan with 34 and 32 in Berlin.

Chances are this list isn't perfect. We imagine it's easier to accumulate info on companies in Western Europe than elsewhere in Europe. But it's a great compilation.

The "Technology" companies account for nearly 33% of the list. But it is getting harder and harder to distinguish "technology companies" from "companies" in the Age of Disruption.

Some categories clearly overlap... Telecom, Fintech...even Support Services, Media, Management Consulting and Ecommerce.

Support Services is a huge part of this FT 1000, which is a real story by itself. Companies like Vision UK (managed print) fell under "Technology" while Hadrian Technology (video security installer) fell under "Support Services." Go figure.

And there are even 3 companies listed specifically as cybersecurity companies (Defenx, MWR InfoSecurity, and Hornetsecurity).

If we concentrate on the FT's Technology category (which includes vendors, distributors and resellers), the leader is Green IT Das Systemhaus from Germany with 11,113% revenue growth(2012-2015) and 382.2% CAGR with 2015 revenue of 24.3 million euros. Five-figure growth--impressive.

Of course, Green IT Das Systemhaus started business in 2012 and FT's 1000 List is all about percent of growth (usually older companies have already had their big growth spurts--and the bigger you are the harder it is to move the revenue needle by percentage.)

Other companies we noted... UKCloud, Z-Wave Europe, Qubiz in Romania, Netguru in Poland...and our friends at Acmeo in Germany.

iStorage is on the list. We tested their datAshurPro ultra-secure USB flash drive earlier this year...

Our friends at IT Reseller Group in Belgium, Flowman in Czech republic (Hi, Frank!), and AV distributor Sahara Presentation Systems.
