HPE uses its recent acquisition of SimpliVity at CeBIT with the announcement of the SimpliVity 380 with OmniStack-- a "first qualified server from HPE with SimpliVity OmniStack."
Available on ProLiant DL380 servers, the SimpliVity 380 is a compact 2U rack-mount appliance delivering server, storage and storage networking services. It also promises improvements on the management, protection and performance of virtualised workloads, and deduplicates, compresses and optimises all data globally. HPE even promises 90% capacity savings across backup and storage.
The SimpliVity 380 comes in 3 versions with 5, 9 or 12 SSDs, all with 1.9TB capacity. Also included are dual Intel E5-2600 v4 (Broadwell) CPUs configurable to up to 44 cores, and RAM ranging from 140GB to 1.4TB.
