HPE Buys Security Analytics With Niara

E-mail Print PDF

HPE announces the acquisition of Niara, a specialist in User and Entity Behaviour Analytics (UEBA), in order to enhance the Aurba ClearPass offering. Financial details are not available.

NiaraNiara first emerged from stealth in June 2015 with a promise of using big data security analytics to help customers improve security. It offers behavioural analytics software able to automate the detection of attacks and risky behaviours, including threats able to penetrate traditional firewalls and other perimeter systems.

"Integrating Niara's advanced behavioral analytics with ClearPass is a natural extension that will now deliver network-wide, real time visibility and predictive assessment of potential risks inside the enterprise," Niara says. "We also are excited to elevate our relationship from a ClearPass Exchange integration partner, to directly contributing to Aruba's growth."

The security company is quite familiar with its new owner, since co-founders Sriram Ramachandran and Prasad Palkar, together with a number of engineers, used to be part of the team behind core technologies making ArubaOS, including authentication, encryption, deep-packet inspection and more.

Post-acquisition Niara will be integrated into Aruba, with Niara technology finding use in the bolstering of ClearPass.
