Red Hat Container Management Reaches Google Cloud

E-mail Print PDF

Red Hat announces the OpenShift Dedicated container management service is now available on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)-- providing means for enterprises to build, launch and manage applications using Red Hat technology on the Google cloud.

ContainersA deal between the two companies sees Red Hat act as service provider, support customers managing OpenShift Dedicated on GCP. Meanwhile Google helps enterprises augment and build on OpenShift applications with a "broad and growing" cloud service portfolio. Customers get support for VPN and Google Virtual Private Cloud to access container applications on the cloud, as well as access to a container-optimised version of the JBoss Middleware.

"Customers consistently tell us that they are looking for open solutions that will enable them to use both public and private infrastructure-- they want choice. Red Hat has been an essential partner in making Kubernetes available to enterprises looking for the support and flexibility to manage a hybrid cloud," Google says. "We are deeply committed to working with partners like Red Hat to help our customers operate in a digital world.”

Launched last December, OpenShift Dedicated is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. It is a service for enterprises wanting to use containers and cloud-native applications without the management and administrative overhead of on-premise deployment. An on-premise customer-managed version of the platform is also available.

OpenShift Dedicated services is available on all Google worldwide cloud regions, and will be integrated with Google Big Query, Cloud Table and Cloud PubSub message oriented middleware.
