Channel Bonding for Reliable Clouds

E-mail Print PDF

More businesses are moving towards the cloud-- but few realise they are also at the mercy of their internet service providers. This is what Viprinet GmbH warns as it prepares for CeBIT 2011.

viprinetViprinet proposes channel bonding as a means to increase internet connection availability, while keeping costs manageable.

Channel bonding combines up to x6 internet connections (from different providers and media) into a single connection-- reducing the risks involved when using a single line.

The company says using x2 different ADSL and x1 3G connections together enables an average availability of 99.9%-- compared to using a single ADSL line, whose average availability is 97% (meaning up to 260 hours of connection failure per year).

Viprinet says its multichannel VPN routers use channel bonding to guarantee stability; as well as benefitting from the bundled bandwidth coming from all connected internet lines. The routers also utilise 3G, HSPA+ and will soon support LTE.

For its system, Viprinet uses a unique VPN tunneling system, utilising 256-bit AES encoding.
