Pakedge Intros RK-1 Gigabit Router

E-mail Print PDF

Pakedge launches the RK-1-- a router "purpose designed" to handle gigabit service and multimedia applications while promising "enterprise-grade" reliability within a custom install-friendly design.

Pakedge RK-1The RK-1 features 5 LAN, 2 WAN, 1 console port and 2 USB ports paired with best-in-class components and a dual-core processor. The result, the companys says, can simultaneously manage multiple high bandwidth, low latency traffic streams including 4K and HD video, uncompressed video, running VoIP telephone services, streaming camera feeds and automation control applications.

An intuitive management interface promises easy installation, with preconfigured Pakedge Zones making easy work of VLAN setup and easy segmentation of voice, video and data traffic into distinct sub-networks. Pakedge Zones propagate from the router, to the switch and down to the AP and connected devices, so a network with VLANS can be setup in minutes.

Further multimedia traffic management features include TruStream technology (distinguishes and prioritises latency-sensitive traffic) and IGMP snooping (facilitates proper operation of multicast media streaming devices within the network).

The RK-1 is also eligible for the Pakedge Custom Engineering program, allowing installers to burn preferred configurations into the firmware, with the option of reverting the router back to factory settings by hitting a reset button.
