Red Hat takes on the VMware vCloud Suite and launches the Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure Package, the combination of Red Hat Linux with virtualisation technology and hybrid cloud management tools.
The chief component is Red Hat's commercial OpenStack release-- the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform, a hybrid of Linux OS and OpenStack designed to provide a scaleable foundation for either public or private clouds.
According to the company it allows the consistent running of applications across on-premise systems, virtual machines and cloud platforms.
Meanwhile the Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure package allows customers to build and manage own IaaS private clouds. It features Enterprise Linux Server, Red Hat Virtualization, Red Hat OpenStack and Red Hat CloudForms, the hybrd cloud management system built on technology from Red Hat's December 2012 acquisition ManageIQ.
Also announced is a Red Hat Enterprise Virtualisation 3.2-- now with support for the latest Intel and MD processors. It allows one to move virtual machine images between storage domains without service disruptions while providing enhancements in storage, network and power management.
