Xirrus launches the Unified Access portfolio-- a cloud service, wifi solution, ethernet switch, management tool and application interface portfolio enabling customers to unite wired and wireless components into a unified network.
Through Unified Access, Xirrus promises wired-like performance across all networks (via Xirrus XR wireless portfolio), unified management (Xirrus XMS), automatic activation and zero-touch provisioning (Xirrus Mobilise), common policy enforcement and application integration.
The first products in the lineup include the new XT switch line. The Xirrus XT-5024 and XT-5048 24- and 48-port gigabit ethernet switches with advanced Layer 2+ functionality and full wired access performance. Both feature PoE+ for powering Xirrus APs and other devices, plus 4 SFP+ uplinks for stacking or high-bandwidth 1GigE or 10GigE uplink connectivity.
Meanwhile the XT-5003 is a 3-port in-wall Gigabit Ethernet switch providing wired port replication for in-room IP service delivery.
XT-series switches work with the XR wireless portfolio to provide access to a variety of applications, with the XT-5003 deriving power from the XT-5024/XT-5048 before feeding local PoE devices.
The XT switches and Xirrus Mobilise will be available from June 2013. Xirrus XMS is available now.
