Another big data company joins the ranks of recent IBM acquisitions-- business analytics vendor Star Analytics, whose offerings will be folded into IBM Financial Performance Management solutions.
The financial terms of the deal are not disclosed.
The acquisition gives IBM the entire Star Analytics business intelligence automation solution portfolio, which automates integration of data, BI applications and other reporting tools across both in-house and cloud-based environments.
IBM also says Star Analytics solutions eliminate custom coding and other manual processes typically required for specialised sources.
Star Analytics joins a number of recent IBM purchases, such as big data storage vendor StoredIQ (December 2012) and enterprise search software company Vivisimo (May 2012). And that is not all-- Bloomberg reports IBM plans to spend up to $15 billion in deals, and currently eyes the likes of storage vendor NetApp, big data analytics developer Splunk and business security provider Imperva as potential purchases.
According to Bloomberg such acquisitions are a means for IBM to jump-start sales, which show just 0.8% growth over the past 4 years.
