In fact, the hosting company with the most top-million sites in the world is ThePlanet.com, also known as cloud services provider SoftLayer, with around 40000 sites.
Coming 2nd and 3rd are two European companies-- France-based Ovh Systems (top web hosting company in Europe according to Netcraft) and Germany's Hetzner Online AG.
Google trails at 4th place with around 25000 sites, followed by GoDaddy. The remaining top 10 hosts are SoftLayer (again), Bluehost, Rackspace, HostGator and Amazon.
The United States host the vast majority of top 1 million sites-- around 450000. Europe hosts just over 310000 sites, with European nations on the list including Germany (#2), UK (#3), France (#5), Netherlands (#8), Spain (#10), Poland (#11), Italy (#13) and Turkey (#14).
