Symantec purchases cloud-based archiving company LiveOffice for $115M-- a purchase bringing a company already integrating technology with the Symantec platform in-house.
LiveOffice allows customers archive email, communications on social media (LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter) and file sharing services (Dropbox and Box.net) through a single cloud-based service. It is already integrated with a number of Symantec products, including Enterprise Vault and the Clearwell eDiscovery platform.
Symantec says the acquisition will provide customers with "a complete cloud-based solution for messaging protection including anti-spam, security, continuity, archiving, compliance, and eDiscovery-– all from one vendor."
